I started a new job!

My new title is “Education Coordinator,” it should be termed “Practical Consultant,” and currently it’s being defined as “oh my god what did I get myself into….”

The job was officially left vacant in November, the person in that position is now my current manager. Because she secretly knew she was going to take this new position as manager, she sort of dropped the ball back in September — so essentially nothing related to auditing charts, non-compliance with restraints, medications, falls has been completed in what is starting to feel like ever. So everyday I come to the office and I seriously stare at the computer for 10 minutes, try to wrap my head around my outlook calendar, go to starbucks, come back to office, repeat .. Also, some of the things that I should be proficient in after much research (i.e. restraint policies) I don’t even think I was fully compliant with the order of things that needed to be done when I was practicing, big woops. So it’s a huge realization of my own work ethic, and now I need to correct and educate other nurses on stuff that I’m now realizing I didn’t actually do correctly….. <gasp>.

Other than that the people are pretty stellar, I have an office, I don’t work weekends, and am already learning a ton core practical stuff on what makes nursing essentially what it is.

Keep your eyes peeled to your mailboxes, a special treat should be coming your way within the next week or so…..
