Week 15 Discovery
BeBand.  Sorry. I couldn’t find a simple package to show you, all google images contained weird-looking stomachs. Anyways, the BeBand is this stretch tube-top for your waist? Last week I went home to Rockford, pants totally unbuttoned, zipper down….welcome to Rockford, white trash. My mom was like go to Target now, we’re having guest over — I can see your underwear. So...

Year of the Dragon....and other things.
2012 marks the Year of the Dragon — a very auspicious year for babies.  Sundeep and I are happy to announce that we, too, will be affected by this year’s dragon. Expected date to rock.our.world. August 1, 2012.  Pregnancy has been no joke. Inappropriate blog posts and short stories to follow… Promise this will be the only fetus-like photo. I’m usually weirded...

White girl in India tales
More things I’ve learned: the hose next to the toilet is USED in place of toilet paper, duh. for like a whole week I thought it was to hose off your feet or something beggar follow up: beggars are woman with babies, old ladies or kids and they LOVE white girls, like me. they have been seen to dodge other cars to get to our car — today this little boy came up to our car window with...

INDIA!
India is crazy!  Lessons learned… — India doesn’t smell like Sundeep told me it does. It smells, but doesn’t really smell. Significant scent, not entirely bad. Unless you are in an alley near a trash can where cows are grazing right now, which I am. — Everyone, everyone wants to feed you. All of the time. It’s one of the most exhausting things in the world....

When life gives you lemons....
My 2012 favorite thing so far…. is lemonade. I want it morning, noon and night. It’s January — lemonade? Yes.  Also my 2012 favorite thing is asking Sundeep what things India has…. Sundeep…does India have couches? Sundeep…does India have peanut butter? Sundeep…does India have lemonade? T-24 hours. Very excited, very nervous. Details to come!

Nightstands
Currently our bedroom has two nightstands, which are bulky, really heavy and do not fit into the new dig. December 2011 is going to be remodel as much of the apartment as you can before you become manager (…..details to come), start classes and begin planning some seriously, fun sister-of-the-bride events! I picked out three. One is more of an unrealistic item from Restoration Hardware,...

Turkey Time......
is almost here, and I absolutely cannot wait! As an old, married lady with my first “real” holiday away from my family, I am obsessed with starting new traditions.   I am also obsessed with making a turkey … BUT. 1) I have no turkey baster, 2) no internal thermometer, and 3) have never made nor watched anyone make a turkey in my life. Which is perfect, because turkeys seem...

Baby, baby, baby...ooooooooo
Babies. Of course, I love them; often joke about having 20 of them, but lately have been a little more serious about them — This is not a “surprise — we’re trying to have a baby!” post to all my friends — ew. awkward. makes me want to throw up a little. This is more of an acknowledgement that more of my friends are talkin’ babies, logistics, timing,...

Happy Diwali.
Get out your diyas, and make way for my girl — Lakshmi. Come on over Lakshmi, my house is clean and the evil spirits are gone!  New things I would like today: This fabulous animal print blouse (shocking! here we go with the animal print again!) And, of course this adorb scarf that engulfs the entire upper half of my body. Happy Diwali my sweet friends and family, xo.

Limited Edition.
I swore off all wedding related blogs from my google reader, but came across this amazing find today! Limited, YES… The Limited sells wedding dresses. Who isn’t these days? $199. In other news: I want to re-do my office space. Which technically has never been done. I have my eye on a few wishful-thinking Christmas gifts at West Elm including these items: Running theme: drab...

Dog days are over.
The Ethington family has seen 2 golden retrievers in their lifetime.  Puppy #1: Sam was this out of control, super hyper golden that we had to give away to a family on a farm (3rd grade). I remember he loved eating ice. He was a total lunatic. Puppy #2: Simon. Simon was named after our family friend-priest (also priest that did our wedding). Don’t ask why we named our family dog after our...

Swim Season.
Is over, yes. Although, swimsuit season is occupying every amazing clearance rack out there — Graduation to one-piece happens May 2012. 29.99 at J.Crew. I can do that.

Fall: Must Haves
I have been eying these sweatpants for a whole season — JCrew pairs them with fancy blouses and cashmere sweaters — I, on the other hand, will be pairing it with tees and hoodies. Ready to trade in my paisley-patterned, 7th grade, Vera Bradley overnight for this tote from Urban Outfitters. For big girl slumber parties, of course.

I HAD NO IDEA this happened!  Commentary:  1. What is up with her bejeweled head piece?  2. The gold cross backdrop is hideous, and the black+white aisle runner, eh.   3. Enjoyed the ivory bridesmaids dresses, if I were a bride.. 4. What is with Kardashian sisters changing into tracksuits at receptions? Are you working out after? Where are you going?

Fall Back.
Is summer seriousssssly over! Yes, it is. 60 degrees next week Chicago — Apparently, I’ll be shining these suckers before long. http://mmalladi.tumblr.com/day/2011/02/11 This week marked the beginning of FY12 (lots of work changes!) and grad school (buh-bye trashy television days —). Aside from the week flying by, I think I’m pretty elated for TGIF and thankful for a very...

Things in 3.
The past week has been a wild one..  1). Work. After some serious re-stacking, I am the proud education coordinator of not 2 medicine units, but 5! My work as almost tripled! Ah. Lots of fellow work buddies are back into staffing (i.e. bedside care/demotion (or promotion — pending on how I’m currently looking at it)) or unsure of their job status, and the remaining of us have picked...

Design: Master Bedroom
First things first: we already received this bedding from our wedding registry at Macy’s = foundation for bedroom created. Unsure how much I love it now..it’s hard to build color off of this patterned combo.  The dressers are on our “must have” list. Sundeep has been working with a plastic crate for 5 years, and I have been running with my IKEA 4 drawer dresser for 3....

Design: Living Room.
Sundeep and I spent this past Saturday furniture shopping, which was a dream for both of us, as you can imagine!  Macy’s, CB2, CB, West Elm, Pottery Barn, oh my! Here is our current design wishlist for the living room ..  Sofa .. found at Macy’s, currently 10% off (i.e. tax) and we have a $500+ refund from our registry at Macy’s .. all-in-all, a good find. They have...

Summer in the City
Sweet Jesus. This week has been a scorcher, especially when you are sweltering in a house with no air conditioning! Growing up sans a/c I usually adapt to the sweaty legs + boobs problemo, but not this week. Although the heat has been horrid, Sundeep and I have been taking a great liking to Hotel Malladi on Lakeshore, it comes with ice cream treats and very sweet sister-in-laws.. While...

#weddinginjune
A few things have changed since the last post — I got a husband, went on an amazing vacation, have little to no planning currently and had the best party ever. June 18th — was such a special day. It was everything + more than we had expected. For having 2 ceremonies in 4 hours, with no wedding coordinator, I think it went absolutely smoothly. There were a few hiccups in the day,...

Holy.wedding.cow. The wedding is in 11 days! The past few weeks I have been anti-blogosphere because I have been too busy freaking out inside. Now, I think I’m slowly entering glowing-bride mode. The glowing bride that wants to pluck her eyebrows and pick out her nail polish colors for her wedding. I have been waiting for this girl for awhile! On the topic of nail polish. I think I have...

Warning: this is going to get girly.. Today, I decided I would take a quick trip to Sephora. I had a giftcard I had been wanting to use, plus was in need of some make-up ideas for the wedding. Anyways, so while I was wandering aimlessly, this sweet lady stumbled upon me. Literally gushed to her what I wanted, begged to not look like a drag queen…. was only really concerned about my eye...

Soooooo. Wedding-stressapalooza has BEGUN! Finally. I thought I was going to be wedding calm and collected forever, psych! Seriously to-do lists …  there are 3 more of this kind right behind this lucky page.  I completely,...

Today: the Ash Wednesday of our nuptials.
Last night bonding over the campfire at my brother’s house, I exclaimed “only 40 more days until the wedding!” to which my mom said “just like Lent!” Yes, today is like the Ash Wednesday to my wedding. Sometimes I have a hard time relaying how Catholic my mom is, and let this serve as justice to this. So let our Lenten obligations begin! The whole wedding process has sort of been a swirl of...

M(N)ail Trauma.
Shellac has ruined my almost perfectly grown out wedding nails! Ok, I’m not that dramatic, at least when it comes to my nails, but seriously I will never get a no-chip manicure again. I went almost two Thursdays ago. The brand was CND (later to find out O.P.I is much better, FYI for all of you virgin-shellacers), the color appeared below, was in fact a near colorless polish. Perfect....

Commmmmmmmmme on.  The stress level in this house feels like it might break through the windows, exploding the entire block, seriously. My mom made homemade everything, literally everything. It was delicious, heartfelt, adorable, you...

Wedding Event: round 1
This past weekend was such a whirlwind. Words cannot describe. It went so fast. Quick recap: dancing, drinking, fast food, queens, intense fuzzy feelings for everyone around me, and most importantly …… Lots of loving this guy. Drunk…or sober. Very unconditional, obviously. Can’t wait to be your “Mrs” in 65 days!

WEEKEND. This weekend commences the first wedding-related activity! It really, really has not hit me yet that my dearest, sweetest friends are all piling into the city for my last “hoorah” as a single lady! I have been having a really hard time expressing what all of this “wedding stuff” means to me - for so long these “events” are things you can only...

I started a new job! My new title is “Education Coordinator,” it should be termed “Practical Consultant,” and currently it’s being defined as “oh my god what did I get myself into….” The job was officially left vacant in November, the person in that position is now my current manager. Because she secretly knew she was going to take this new...

Running theme this week: crying.
Follow-up post: Perusing through my google reader, I stumbled upon this sweet, sweet couple and their adorable babe. Like most posts, I think I can attest for myself and others I check out the pictures with very minimal reading.
